The old Captain Hillard is dead ( Will Smith) and his son takes command while President Whitmore is old and rather sickly at times but still there to provide reassurance to all.
And the good doctor (Brent Spiner) has arisen from a long induced coma. All are back including Jeff Goldblum as Dr. Levenson and his absent minded father played once again by Judd Hirsch.
This time it takes place on the moon, ever since the last attack the queen of the alien race is furious and demands another armada be flown in with her this time to finish what they started.
This time aiding them is a ship they mistook for a probe droid that is the last of it's race.
